If you’re buying any golf cart parts or accessories for your Club Car, E-Z-Go or Yamaha carts you will need to know the year of manufacture for your particular model of cart. Unlike the auto industry there is no standardized serial number format or even where the serial number is located in a cart.
When ordering cart parts such as lift kits, engine parts or even replacement body panels knowing the year that your cart was made ensures that you get the right part, saving you time and money. This guide shows you where to find the serial numbers on the most popular E-Z-Go, Club Car and Yamaha golf cars.
Club Car Golf Carts
Club Car Precedent
Club Car CartFor Club Car Precedent carts manufactured after 2003 the serial numbers are located in the glove box on the passengers side of the vehicle. The first two numbers (not letters) indicate the last two digits of the year of manufacture. i.e ’04′ indicates ’2004′ year of manufacture.
Club Car DS
Since 1981 the serial numbers of DS carts can be found just under the glove box on the passengers side of the vehicle. The first two numbers (not letters) indicate the last two digits of the year of manufacture.
For Club Car golf carts prior to 1981, the serial number is stamped on a plate that is found by raising the seat and locating the aluminum, I-beam frame section closest to the batteries on the driver’s side of the car. Marathon (1976-1994)
For Marathon carts the serial and manufacturer numbers are found on a plate located under the glove box on the passenger’s side of the cart. The serial number is either six or seven numbers but does not indicate the model year. The manufacturers number contains the model year and will have one letter and three or four numbers, which will include two numbers indicating last two digits are the year it was made.
Over the years the order of these numbers and letter have changed occasionally, but it should be straightforward to decode.
E-Z-Go Golf Carts (prior to 1976)
On older E-Z-Go carts (prior to 1976), the serial number plate can be found on the fender skirt under the driver’s side seat. There is no simple formula for vehicles manufactured before 1976, so it can be a little tricky to determine the year of manufacture.
Yamaha Golf Carts
G1
Yamaha Golf CarYamaha G1 golf car serial numbers can be found under the rear bumper stamped into the square cross member of the frame.
G2
If you have an early Yamaha G2 golf car (pre-1988) the serial numbers can be found under the rear bumper stamped into the square cross member of the frame on the passenger’s side of the vehicle. From 1988 through 1990 the serial number is located under the seat where the floorboard meets the engine compartment.
G9
Yamaha G9 cart serial numbers are located under the seat where the floorboard meets the engine compartment.
G14/G16/G19/G20/G22
Check under the glove box on the far left of the driver’s side of the vehicle and you will find the serial numbers aligned vertically.
