Gucci First Day Out
A pioneer of the popular hip-hop subgenre known as trap, Davis wasted little time in getting back into the studio to lay down vocals over some new music. With production by Mike Will Made-It, the freshly recorded 'First Day Out Tha Feds' debuted on Friday and accumulated some 1.1 million SoundCloud plays in twenty-four hours, more than 900,000 of which occurred within the first twelve.
A rumor that Davis would release an entirely new mixtape entitled Gucci Free on Friday night proved unfounded.
Gucci Mane Best Songs
As a primary artist, Davis has four Gucci Mane singles under his belt that made the Billboard Hot 100, including 2009's 'Wasted' which spent thirteen weeks on the chart and peaked at #36. Befitting his prolific output over the years, a dozen of his albums and commercial mixtapes have appeared on the Billboard 200, three of which made the album chart's Top 20.

During Davis' incarceration, his representatives continued to release a staggering amount of unreleased Gucci Mane material both for sale and for free via streaming and digital download platforms. Among these mixtapes included new installments to his existing Trap God and Trap House series, as well as collaborations with the likes of Migos and Young Thug.
In the time since his 2014 federal sentencing and release this week, Davis' already hugely influential Atlanta locale went on to become an even more dominant city in hip-hop. Artists who were either signed to his own 1017 Records and whose careers he was linked to such as Future and the aforementioned Young Thug saw their stock rise considerably, often with some of the same producers Davis had previously worked with. It stands to reason that at least some of these artists would contribute to upcoming Gucci Mane projects.
With his Atlantic Records deal reportedly terminated, it seems likely that Davis' next project will be self-released much like the past couple years of his commercial output. Given the quantitatively strong fan response to 'First Day Out Tha Feds' and the present potential of digital music distribution, the release could be his first to make the Billboard 200 since 2014's Trap House 4.
